Frequently Asked Questions
What makes up an entry?

For the initial entry, you will need the following

Information about you
Who you are, where you live/work/study, and how to contact you.

Information about your project
What opportunity was the project addressing? Who were you designing for? What was the impact? What was the project’s design process?

Images
Bring your project to life for us. Provide one hi-res photo or illustration that encapsulates the project. Images should be in a 16:9 landscape format and a minimum of 3000px wide.

A video
This is where you describe your project. Create a video, up to 4 minutes in length, answering these 4 questions:

    1. What opportunity was the project addressing?
    2. Who were you designing for?
    3. What was the impact?
    4. What was the project’s design process?

We are not looking for high production quality or glossy marketing – tell us your story in the way you are best able. A great example of a video following this format was created and entered by a previous winning project, Konnekt.

Wondering what tools you might use to make a video? Look at Adobe Voice or Videolicious for easy examples of pulling something together.

Please provide the video with a 16:9 ratio in .MOV or . AVI video format. Please do not include any copyrighted music in your material.

How do I submit my entry?

We are using OpenWater, an online contest software, to manage all entries.

  1. Create an account (We apologize in advance: you likely will have to make a new account)
  2. Fill out the submission form (you’re welcome to save drafts until you’re ready to submit)
  3. Fill in payment details
  4. Submit your amazing work by September 26, 2019 by 11:59 PM Pacific Time (USA).

Read About the Interaction Awards to get all the details around submission, pricing and eligibility.

Am I eligible to submit work?

With 99% certainty – Yes. The Interaction Awards are open to all professional and student designers worldwide. You can submit both concept work and production work for consideration. Projects that have been completed between July 2017 and August 2019 are eligible.

Please read our criteria around eligibility on our About page.

May I submit a non-English project?

Yes, we love to see work from all over the world! We do however ask that you fill out the submission form in English, and provide English text or subtitles in your video submission.

We know this can be a hurdle for some, but as a not-for-profit we do not have the resources to translate entries in other languages.

When is the deadline?

We need to have your work by 11:59pm Pacific Time (USA) on September 26, 2019.

This is non-negotiable as the peer review process begins shortly thereafter.

May I enter the same work in several categories?

It’s up to you to describe why you believe the project should be recognised in each category.
