Overview

I have worked with kids through the whole process trying to understand what are the things that they enjoy the most. I learned that a strong component of their preferred activities is expressing themselves and that is at the core of this project. I have tried to create a product that allowed children to create music using math concepts that were visible and tangible. My goal was to keep the expressing and engaging power of creating music while providing a mathematically precise language of tokens to afford that creativity.
The math concepts that allow to create music are patterns, shapes, width, height, color, sets, duration, order and change. They are all from the standard curriculum for 3 to 6 year old children.
